Common Questions about Counseling at HopeWay

What is Christian counseling?

Christian counselors are licensed mental health professionals who use the latest evidenced-based treatment interventions for your specific needs. Because Christian counselors have a faith-based approach to treatment, they are able to also integrate the Christian faith, beliefs, and values in to treatment. The counselor will always ask you what your needs and preferences are for integrating your faith in to the treatment and will seek to encourage your spiritual growth on your recovery journey.

Can I see a Christian counselor if I have different beliefs?

Yes, our counselors are licensed mental health professionals and trained to provide counseling in collaboration with your personal beliefs, values, and preferences.

What population do you serve?

We provide mental health counseling for children (ages 5 and up), teens, adults, individuals, couples, families, and communities. What is a typical counseling session like?

Some sessions might be more structured that others. For example, some sessions may focus on processing feelings, emotions, and circumstances. Other sessions may involve specific treatment steps, psychiatric education, and/or emotional support. We encourage you to share your desires for the treatment session with your counselor so they can provide you with the best care.

How often are the sessions?

Typically, sessions are weekly. Sometimes they are more than once a week for acute needs. Sometimes they are every other week or every few weeks, as treatment wraps up, or for maintenance.

How long is each session?

Sessions are 30–60 minutes long, on average. The length of time is tailored to your needs.

How much does it cost?

Our rate per session is $125 for individuals and $150 for couples. However, if our practice is in network with your insurance, then we accept the rate paid by your insurance. You may have deductibles, copays, or co-insurance that will be applied to your visit. Our team will work to verify your benefit coverage and notify you of these costs. However, we also advise you to contact your insurance directly regarding your specific policy coverage.

What insurances do you accept?

We accept most insurances, including Aetna, Cigna, United Healthcare, Optum, and self-pay.

What payment options do you accept?

We work with most insurances and accept self-pay. We require a credit card on file, and charges are applied at the time of service.
